PLAZAMEDIA and ARRI Deploy GhostFrame

December 2021; Burbank, CA – PLAZAMEDIA and ARRI recently completed a mixed reality installation at PLAZAMEDIA’s headquarters in Ismaning near Munich to explore and optimize the complex landscape of mixed reality technologies for TV Production, including GhostFrame

The state-of-the-art installation, which ran through the end of November 2021, integrated 120 sqm of ROE Visual Diamond DM2.6 LED tiles (23m x 5m), driven by Megapixel VR’s HELIOS LED Processing Platform. The studio was also equipped with Mo-Sys StarTracker and Trackmen tracking systems, with GhostFrame as an additional tool and Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4.27 as the graphic engine.

The lighting fixtures included ARRI SkyPanel S60, ARRI Orbiter, ARRI L5, and grandMA Lighting and enabled automated, scene-specific lighting control as a special feature. The camera setup consists of an ARRI ALEXA Mini LF kit with an ARRI Signature Zoom lens, an ARRI AMIRA, and Sony HDC-3500.

From broadcasts to commercials to digital events, a fully equipped mixed reality studio environment offers a wide range of possibilities for customers from different markets. Mixed reality is ideal for media companies, the advertising industry, and the event and culture sector to activate their productions and events in a state-of-the-art environment. In addition, live and recorded formats, such as talk shows, news programs, games, and quiz shows, can also be realized.
