Megapixel Announces GhostFrame Acquisition and Continued SMPTE ST 2110 Focus At NAB 2024

Megapixel is an innovative technology creator dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art LED processing, monitoring & analytics, and display solutions to the world’s leading entertainment, film, TV, and architectural applications. Aided by superior product design, development, and manufacturing expertise, Megapixel delivers unsurpassed visual performance making any project, no matter how complex, a reality.

Recent projects that have harnessed Megapixel technology include:

  • Virtual production stages: Lux Stage at Trilith (Atlanta), NantStudios’ Docklands Studios (Melbourne), ARRI Stage (London).
  • Broadcast studios: Emmy award-winning FOX Sports NFL Sunday, ESPN’s Catalyst Stage and Sky Studios.
  • Live events: Eurovision, The Killers World Tour, WWE, Glastonbury.

Megapixel is pleased to announce at NAB 2024 that it has completed the acquisition of all GhostFrame™ intellectual property from technology partner AGS AG, effective immediately. GhostFrame has been an integral part of Megapixel’s HELIOS® LED Processing Platform since its inception and this acquisition serves to further strengthen Megapixel’s position in the broadcast and virtual production sectors.

Jeremy Hochman, Megapixel CEO & Co-Founder, explains “We have been overwhelmed by the market’s positive reaction to GhostFrame. From the Emmy Award Winning Fox NFL Sunday studio to ESPN’s new Catalyst Stage, this is becoming an amazing workflow for multi-camera broadcast studios. While Megapixel has many patents covering the technology, we also felt that it made sense to acquire the IP from our technology partner AGS who also contributed to the overall technology stack with numerous patents. With this all under one roof now, and protected by more than 50 combined worldwide patents, HELIOS will continue to grow in the broadcast arena and become an even more critical piece of must-have infrastructure for studios.”

NAB attendees can see a full demo of GhostFrame at B&H The Studio booth C.7916 during the show with Megapixel staff on hand to answer questions and provide further information.

In addition to this exciting news, Megapixel continues to push boundaries with its 100G ST 2110 capabilities, an important cornerstone of their commitment to the Broadcast sector. Numerous projects and events now rely on this critical infrastructure to function perfectly in a world of tight deadlines and unquestionable reliability.

NAB also marks the launch of many new LED displays from Megapixel’s partners.
